The Rain In Spain

I am always searching for simple and chic ways to add glamor to otherwise utilitarian areas of the home. The doormat is one of those often neglected items. Or, it often becomes a victim to gimmicky sayings and often-tacky designs. So, when I was approached by CSN Rugs for a giveaway and I saw the Chilewich door mat (18" W x 28" D) in bold black and white it conjured up images of Eliza Doolittle in the scene at the horse races where all the a ladies wore those gigantic hats. Eliza’s striped beauty was stunning in it’s simplicity, as is this wonderful doormat. To enter the contest simply post a comment being sure to leave your email address so I can notify the lucky winner.

CSN has tons of other beautiful area rugs in a multitude of designs & sizes for every room of the house, so please visit their site and get inspired!

I thank them again for this fun (and Design Addict first!) giveaway! Good luck to all!!!

Update: The contest has now ended. Congrats to Julie Wood of NY!!!

  2. I adore Chilewich and Ms. Hepburn. Both are originals and cameleons at the same time!

  3. David, Save me from my "gimmicky and tacky" doormat! I bought it at the Whitney Museum. It has that LOVE sculpture on it by Robert Indiana. It's time to upgrade to Eliza Doolittle chic.

  7. David I love old Hepburn movies, I love your blog, and I miss you. I wish I lived closer to New York and your glamorous designer/artist life. Who doesn't love a new door mat, or a new set of sheets, or a new set of towells...but, you are right, these are things that are often negelected. I usually opt to spend my money on some great new piece of clothing over a door mat(although now that you have made me think about my old Cost Plus bamboo lovely, I better do something about it).

  8. Yet another great blog on design. You are a genius. You know, I hadn't really thought about a door mat in the past, but now you have me motivated to get a gorgeous one like shown above. I'll be visiting CSN's website and checking out everything they have!
